Enzo Maresca given Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea transfer message as Man Utd verdict clear

Paul Scholes believes Alejandro Garnacho will become a success at Chelsea with the winger signing a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues paid Manchester United a £40million fixed fee for the 21-year-old, football.london understands, after eventually compromising on the price. Garnacho wanted a move to Stamford Bridge all summer-long and had a verbal agreement on personal terms in early August.

Garnacho is in contention to make his Chelsea debut after the international break with the winger set to be in the squad as the Blues travel to Brentford next Saturday. After a turbulent time at United, where Garnacho's attitude was criticised multiple times, there are plenty of people who think Chelsea have made a mistake by signing him.

The Argentine has been criticised for his off-the-pitch antics, including his activity on social media. However, Scholes, who watched him countless times when he was playing at Old Trafford, thinks Garnacho will prove to be a good signing for Chelsea.

"I think he’ll be good for you," . "Yeah [I think it’s a good signing]. I feel like a lot of them are **** now though, doesn't mean they're not going to be good at football. I don't think he'll be disruptive. I hope he is."

Garnacho has fulfilled a lifelong dream by signing for Chelsea, the club he admired so much when he was growing up. In his own admission, the winger revealed that Eden Hazard was an idol of his when he was watching football as a kid.

Speaking to Chelsea's club website, Garnacho admitted: "I loved Eden Hazard. Eden was one of my idols and a big reason why I watched and supported Chelsea a bit when I was younger. He was such an incredible player, playing in the same position that I wanted to, coming inside, scoring goals – he was crazy good."

Garnacho added: "I spoke to Enzo [Fernandez, his Argentina teammate] during the summer because he had been asking a lot of times, 'When are you coming? When are you coming?'

"I kept saying that he had to be patient, and we would play together. He texted me when I joined to say congratulations, and I can't wait to see him and play together. I had to be patient too, but now I can't wait to get started."
