SSC New Step: Like UPSC, SSC will now make public the data of meritorious candidates who are deprived of selection in the recruitment examination. This decision will apply to recruitments after November 2024. This will enable the youth to get new employment opportunities in PSUs and other agencies.
SSC New Step: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has now taken a big step towards transparency and new employment opportunities in the recruitment process, following the path of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The commission has announced that it will now make public the details of those candidates who reach the final stage of the recruitment examination but are not selected. This decision will be applicable to all recruitments after November 2024.
Whose data will be public?
The commission has said that the data of twice the number of candidates than the number of notified posts in each recruitment examination will be made public. But this information will be of only those candidates who will allow sharing of data while applying.
The data will include these details:
Candidate's name
Father's or husband's name
Date of birth
Category (like SC/ST/OBC/EWS etc.)
Gender
Educational qualification
Total marks obtained
Rank
Address
Email ID
Preparing for new employment opportunities
This data will help public sector undertakings (PSUs), autonomous institutions and other agencies to employ suitable candidates. This database will be made available on the SSC website and can also be linked to a centralized government portal. The data will be available for one year from the date of publication.
SSC's suggestion: Keep documents for three years
SSC has urged the candidates to keep their application form and other documents safe for at least three years, so that if any agency contacts them in future, they can show authentic documents. However, the Commission has clarified that the responsibility for the authenticity of the data will not be of SSC, but it will be the responsibility of the user agency.
This initiative will act as a “Talent Bridge” connecting thousands of meritorious candidates to new jobs.
