A video circulating on social media showed a man standing on the rear of a speeding auto-rickshaw on Thane-Belapur Road near Mukund Company in Digha. The stunt, performed in heavy rain around 1:30 a.m. on July 27, was recorded by a motorist trailing the rickshaw and alerted police to the incident.
Rickshaw and Riders Identified
Using the rickshaw’s registration number, Rabale MIDC police traced the vehicle to the Digha area. Investigations revealed Amitkumar Rajesh Ghuriya (22) was driving the rickshaw, while Akash alias Kallu Jayawant Chauhan (22) performed the stunt. A third person, Omkar Adimalliv Baprap (22), had provided the rickshaw.

Legal Action Taken
All three were detained and questioned by police. They were booked under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, for reckless driving and endangering public safety. The accused were later released after being served legal notices.
