Supermarket chain Morrisons has opened its own £129-a-month weight loss jab club.
Loosing weight can be really tough for some people and there has recenlty been a huge interest in the use of of tirzepatide, also known as Mounjaro, orginally an antidiabetic treatment which lowers blood sugar and slows down how quickly food is digested.
GPs in England are being allowed to prescribe Mounjaro to severely obese people for the first time. Patients needed to be on weight loss programmes to get the drug previously. It will initially be offered to people with a body mass index (BMI) score of over 40 in the first year of the roll out.
They will also have conditions such as type 2 diabetes; high blood pressure; heart disease; and obstructive sleep apnoea. Around 1.5m already take weight loss drugs in the UK, often through specialist weight loss services or via private prescription. And now supermarket chain Morrisons is offering the weight-loss jab for £129-a-month.

Shopper Dave Carter hit out: “It’s genius really. The store sells you unhealthy grub that gets you fat, then wants vast sums of money to get you thin." Another added on social media: “I didn't have @Morrison offering weight loss drugs (tirzepatide) on my 2025 bingo card.."
Another added on social media: “Is this a parody? One of the culprits, pushing highly-processed food, is offering a fat clinic?!
Morrisons Clinic also offers other services like; treatment for premature ejaculation, treatments for acne at £36.99, acid reflux at £17.99, erectile dysfunction at £13 and migraine at £15.99. Morrisons, which has more than 100 pharmacies across the UK, said its weight management medications were “prescribed and dispensed responsibly”.
Morrisons launched the ‘Morrisons Clinic,’ an online private prescription service back in January. Launched in partnership with Phlo, the service enables customers to access private medication quickly, discretely, and safely and have it delivered straight to their door without a GP’s appointment.
