One of the stars of the upcoming comedy series has shared an eerie coincidence that has only become clear since filming on the series wrapped.
The Paper is a new mockumentary-style sitcom that is a spin-off from the American version of The Office. It comes from one of the co-creators of that iteration, Greg Daniels, who adapted Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's original creation for a Stateside audience.
It soon became one of the beloved comedies in both the US and the UK. Rumours of spin-offs and reboots have long been reported, although nothing ever came of them. However, more than a decade later, a brand new show is set to continue its legacy.

The Paper's premise states that the same documentary crew that followed the employees of Dunder Mifflin are returning with their new subject, a local newspaper in an Ohio-based city. Naturally, the show touches upon the importance of journalism.

One returning cast member from The Office is Oscar Nunez, who will reprise his role as Oscar Martinez. The last time audiences saw Oscar, his character was embarking on a political campaign.
Ahead of the show's premiere, the actor asked about his thoughts on this subject matter. Whether or not it was something that spoke to him while making the show, especially considering the political turmoil around the world.
In an exclusive chat with the Daily Mirror, he shared: "When did we shoot this? Was our fearless leader ( Donald Trump ) in office yet? I don't know, but yeah, it's poignant now. And I don't know, we'll see what happens, but yes, it's strange times we're living in right now."
Asked about the difference between The Office's finale and The Paper's premiere, the fact that the newspaper in the new show is literally called The Truth Teller, and whether lessons should be learned from that, he passionately declared: "I mean it was such a different place than it is now, such a different place."
He continued: "The stuff we are dealing with in the States is mind-boggling - mind-boggling. Never in a thousand years, never in a thousand years would I think I'd be thinking of leaving the country that my parents fled to because of political reasons. We'll be back in 10 minutes, smoke 'em if you got 'em, guys."
Oscar also shared a little about what it was like on the set of The Paper. He revealed how he found it easy to step back into the character he had previously played for nine seasons, saying: "It was pretty easy. I was there observing and seeing the new cast and if they had questions or whatever and I was happy to to help.
"It was pretty seamless. The new cast asks you for advice on how to approach this kind of show. Sometimes, I give a little... I was happy to be there. It's nice to see them so excited because I was like, Oh my God, that was me. It's been a great experience."
The Paper is streaming on Sky Max and NOW from September 5.
