After a record-breaking run, the animated mythological film ‘Mahavatar Narasimha’ crossed the ₹100 crore mark in just 10 days, becoming India’s highest-grossing animated movie. Distributed by AA Films, the film created history and remained a favorite among family audiences, with tickets selling rapidly even after the milestone.
However, after posting an impressive ₹23.4 crore on its second Sunday (day 10), the film witnessed its steepest single-day drop to ₹8.25 crore on Monday (day 11). Though this decline of over ₹15 crore is the most significant so far for the movie, daily collections of ₹8 crore still put it in a strong position to reach a possible ₹150 crore total if the hold continues. The film’s total India net for 12 days stands at nearly ₹100 crore, with worldwide gross crossing ₹114 crore.
In contrast, recent releases ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ and ‘Dhadak 2’ have struggled. ‘Son of Sardaar 2’, starring Ajay Devgn, earned only ₹2.5 crore on its first Monday, taking its four-day total to ₹27.25 crore—a lackluster showing given the film’s franchise legacy and star power. Mixed reviews and weak word-of-mouth led to declining ticket sales.
‘Dhadak 2’ has also underperformed, grossing ₹13.2 crore in its first four days. Despite featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri and receiving some positive reviews, it failed to gain momentum at the box office, further affected by competition from ‘Mahavatar Narasimha’ and ‘Son of Sardaar 2’.
Meanwhile, July’s blockbuster ‘Saiyaara’ continues to dominate, having crossed the ₹300 crore mark in India. Its sustained box office run has overshadowed new entrants and proven hard to match for other titles.
In summary, while ‘Mahavatar Narasimha’ faces its sharpest decline after a big weekend, it still leads the box office by a wide margin, while recent Bollywood releases struggle to find their audience.
