Due to torrential rains in Uttarakhand since Wednesday night, landslides occurred at many places on the way to Yamunotri, Gangotri, and Kedarnath Dham, and roads collapsed. The Char Dham Yatra remained disrupted on Thursday due to the collapse of the Yamunotri Highway and the Kedarnath-Gaurikund Highway. Meanwhile, the death toll in the cloudburst incident in Mandi, Himachal, two days ago has risen to 16, while 55 people are still missing.

Landslides occurred at two places between Sonprayag and Gaurikund on the Rudraprayag-Gaurikund Highway, due to which the journey to Kedarnath Dham could not start in the early hours of Thursday. At 7:30 am, SDRF personnel cleared the way and sent 40 passengers safely from Gaurikund to Sonprayag. Passengers were sent to Kedarnath from Sonprayag at 9 am. Due to the closure of the highway, the passengers went from Sonprayag to Gaurikund on foot. At the same time, the Gangotri Highway could be restored after about five hours.

Due to rain in Uttarakhand, rivers and streams are overflowing in many villages of Chamoli, Uttarkashi, and Rudraprayag districts, due to which people have to take shelter in safe places. At the same time, roads have been submerged in water at many places in the Banaskantha district of Gujarat.
