Afghan national Safi Dawood, 22, has been charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and possession of an offensive weapon following a triple stabbing in Uxbridge, west London, on Monday, the Crown Prosecution Service said. Dawood, of Midhurst Gardens, will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday. The man is an Afghan migrant who entered the country in a lorry in 2020 and was granted asylum in 2022. Officials confirmed that he is not resident in an asylum hotel or any other Home Office accommodation, despite claims on social media.

Jaswant Narwal, chief crown prosecutor for CPS London North, said: "Following the shocking triple stabbing which took place in Uxbridge on Monday evening, the Crown Prosecution Service has today announced Safi Dawood, 22, has been charged with the murder of Wayne Broadhurst and the attempted murder of two others. Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to court and that it is in the public interest to pursue criminal proceedings.

"We have worked closely with the Metropolitan Police Service as they carried out their investigation."

The Met was called at 5pm on Monday, October 27, to reports that three people had been stabbed in Midhurst Gardens, Uxbridge.

Met Police officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service, who treated three victims for stab wounds.

49-year-old Wayne Broadhurst was treated at the scene for stab wounds, but, despite the efforts of the emergency services, he died at the scene. His family is being supported by officers.

Two other people - a 45-year-old man, who remains in hospital with life-changing injuries, and a 14-year-old boy, who has been discharged from hospital with neither life-changing nor life-threatening injuries - are also being supported by officers.

Dawood was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Dawood was assessed when he entered custody and later required hospital treatment after suffering a medical episode. He has since returned to police custody, where he remains ahead of his court appearance.

Victim Mr Broadhurst was a bin man, according to a neighbour in Uxbridge. She said: "I've been here two years and would see him walk past the window."

The victim of the attack was described as "the last person on Earth that you would think somebody would go for".

She said: "I still can't get over it. If he was five or 10 minutes later taking the dog out would the same thing have happened?"

On Tuesday night, a group of around 100 men, women and children gathered to lay flowers near the police tape at the junction between Midhurst Gardens and Leybourne Road, with some lighting candles.
