Carol Smillie is best known for hosting the 1990s BBC renovation show Changing Rooms - and she was the programme's original presenter. The DIY show was an instant hit and was transferred to BBC One for its second series. During her tenure as host, Carol won a National Television Award and an INDIE Award before leaving in 2003 to pursue other projects.
The Scottish broadcaster has also presented the 1990s fashion show Get It On, the game show Wheel of Fortune, and The National Lottery, as well as a mix of other reality shows. However, the former model decided to turn her back on the television industry altogether in 2012 and became a humanist celebrant with the Humanist Society Scotland in 2018.
