Nothing beats a coffee and a pastry for breakfast, as it feels like such a treat. However, if you're picking it up from your local bakery or cafe, you can expect to pay a fair bit, as delicious as it may be.
The good news is, if you're trying to save money, you can simply head to your local supermarket to pick up some buttery croissants instead. But we've all been left disappointed by those cheap, small croissants that often come in large packets, as they're just not as good as the more authentic versions. Thankfully, there's an easy and affordable way to make these taste 'a million times better'.
TikToker Ayni, also known as @ayni_home, often posts quick and easy recipes that are perfect for busy family life. She says you can easily take your cheap supermarket croissants to the next level if you've got an air fryer.
Showing off the snack to her followers, she said: "Guys, you know these croissants that you get, the cheap ones? I think there's about eight in a packet. You get them in Tesco or any supermarket. I'm going to show you how to elevate them."
As well as an air fryer, you'll need two other items to turn ordinary croissants into a sweet breakfast delight - Nutella and icing sugar.
This simple trick literally takes minutes, but it'll make your croissants taste so much better.
First, cut the croissant open, and spread some Nutella or any other filling that you like. Make sure to do it really nicely and thickly, as this will add so much more flavour.
Then, pop the croissants in a lined air fryer basket, and cook for around four minutes.
Pulling out the basket to reveal perfectly cooked, golden croissants stuffed with chocolate, Ayni said: "Lovely and crispy, just like a fresh croissant."
However, for an extra touch of decadence, you'll want to grab some icing sugar as well. Give the croissants a light dusting, which will make them even sweeter and more delicious.
Showing off the croissant, she said: "Honestly, this is now like a million times better with the lovely, gooey chocolatey centre. Give it a go."
