Andrea Stella jokingly threatened to put '20kg of ballast' in both McLaren drivers' cars for the Hungarian Grand Prix after Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri irritated him during an interview. The Woking-based squad are heavy favourites to extend their advantage in both World Championships on Sunday.

The McLaren team principal was enjoying an interview with Viaplay in the Hungaroring paddock when he was forced to turn his attention to his drivers. Norris and Piastri were sitting on the other side of the team motorhome with headphones on, seemingly filming some team content. With a wry smile, Stella said: "May I please continue my interview without these disturbances? Otherwise, I'm going to put 20 kilograms of ballast on your car!" The McLaren boss then turned back to the camera and gave a chuckle.

Norris and Piastri are wrapped up in an intense Drivers' Championship fight heading into the 14th race of the 2025 campaign. After a masterclass victory at the Belgian Grand Prix last time out, the Australian is now 16 points clear of his team-mate and has wrestled back momentum after the Brit's back-to-back triumphs.

In the Constructors' Championship, there is no fight at all. McLaren have only stretched their advantage over the competition this season, and are now a daunting 268 points ahead of second-placed Ferrari in the standings.

With third-placed Max Verstappen now 81 points behind him heading into the final race before the summer break, Piastri was content to admit that the Drivers' Championship fight is now an intra-team fight at McLaren.

"I suppose so," he confessed. "Every weekend now, or the last few weekends anyway, it has been Lando and I. I expect our competition to still be strong and put up a good fight, especially at certain tracks through the rest of the year.

"Whether that comes from Max or Ferrari or Mercedes or someone else, we never really know. I'm not too concerned about what happens in that. I'm just trying to win each race and extend the lead."

Norris, who was kicking himself after letting Piastri past on the opening lap in Belgium, has explained his forecast for the upcoming 11 races. "I think it's probably down to [who makes] the least mistakes, more than anything," he explained.

"It's not simply who is outright the quickest or who can race better, or who makes the best overtakes. I have some of my strengths, he has some of his. It's more down to these mistakes."
