More than two decades after the release of The Devil Wears Prada, Meryl Streep has stepped back into the role of fictional fashion mogul Miranda Priestly. And it's fair to say she has refused to slow down. The Hollywood icon, 76, captivated viewers of the first movie as the fearsome fashion editor, who was inspired by the now outgoing Vogue chief Anna Wintour.
The original novel was a cheeky take by Anna's former assistant Lauren Weisberg, who put readers in her shoes through fictional stand-in Andrea 'Andy' Sachs, who was portrayed on the big screen by none other than Anne Hathaway.
The news that a sequel was in the works broke last July, and fans are now anxiously awaiting its release after it was confirmed that Anne and Meryl would return to their former roles. Also returning for the sequel are Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton and Stanley Tucci as fashionista Nigel, as well as a few familiar faces from Bridgerton.
Now, powerhouse Meryl has been spotted shooting the upcoming film in the heart of New York City, dressed flawlessly as she embodies the role of the tyrannical boss of Runway magazine.
She stormed through the streets of Midtown Manhattan, featuring her trademark swirl of ice-white hair and oversized sunglasses, which were pivotal to her look in the original 2006 film.
Her costume was styled to perfection and highlighted her lithe frame, from her tan, brown leather pencil skirt to her plunging lavender blouse, not a hair was out of place.
She layered her ensemble with a slimming camel-toned coat as she stalked down 45th street on a set of burnt orange high heels, which added a few inches to her 5'6" stature.
After the images emerged, fans flooded to X-formerly known as Twitter-to express their excitement at how little the star has played since the original movie came out nearly twenty years ago.
One user gushed that the actress "hasn't aged a day," as another penned: "Between 2005 and now she has aged a week," while a third exclaimed: "She looks just as fabulous!!!"
Meanwhile, others shared side-by-side snaps of Meryl in the original movie and the snap of her taken on the set this week, another flabbergasted X user marveled: "This is crazy". Her admirers showered the actor with praise, writing: "Iconic", "Miranda YOU ARE BACK" and simply "OH MY GOD."
Meryl's sighting comes just days after Anne was seen shooting the new film where she gave fans an insight into Andy Sachs' latest incarnation.
The original rom-com sees Andy's world turn upside down with a much-needed makeover from a mousy bookworm to a high-octane boss.
