
Donald Trump has issued a brutal warning to Putin ahead of the pair's meeting in Alaska on Friday. He told the Russian President that "there will be very severe consequences" if he does not agree to stop the war in Ukraine after their meeting.
The US President also praised "great" European leaders he is due to meet with in preparation for his summer with Vladimir Putin on Friday. The US president also expressed his and their desire to "see a deal done" in the short post on his platform Truth Social. He wrote: "Will be speaking to European Leaders in a short while. They are great people who want to see a deal done."
Mr Trump is due to speak with Volodymyr Zelensky and other world leaders after they hold their own call in an earlier virtual meeting. The call will focus on pressure options against Russia, seized Ukrainian territories, security guarantees for Kyiv, and the sequencing of potential peace talks, a German government spokesperson told POLITICO.
