NEW DELHI: Early Friday, Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh was hit by an avalanche on the snow-covered Dhauladhar Hills.
A video captured by PTI news agency showed the powerful slide cascading down the mountains. No casualties have been reported so far.
The avalanche comes after heavy rains in the first week of October, which brought a sudden shift in the weather and snowfall in several districts including Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Mandi, and Kinnaur.
Earlier this week, a landslide in Bilaspur district struck a private bus in Barthi village, about 100 km from capital city - Shimla , killing 18 people.
Since the monsoon began on June 20, nearly 470 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents across Himachal Pradesh.
